Miss Shauna was born and raised in Southern New Jersey where she started dancing at the age of 2. She grew up dancing in her family's owned dance studio just outside of Philadelphia where a lot of her training took place. Her mother is a member of Dance Masters Chapter 25 which opened a lot of doors of opportunity and knowledge for her at a very young age.
Miss Shauna grew up dancing under many different dance teachers and choreographers, danced and studied in New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York City. She spent several years in South Jersey's Children's Ballet Theater, under the direction of Phyllis Papa. She spent 6 years completing curriculum from the Jay Dash Dance Teachers Training program, graduating at a very young age, learning technique, terminology, choreography, completing written and physical tests in all genres of dance. She graduated from the University Of the Arts where she was part of the Senior Tap ensemble under the direction of LaVaughn Robinson. She has gone through Karida Griffith's tap teaching training courses and holds her certification with Acrobatic Arts International.
Miss Shauna began teaching dance at the age of 15, and started her own tap competition team when she was 19. By age 21, she had her own jazz and tap companies, which competed and traveled on the East Coast winning regional and national awards.
Miss Shauna has had tap training from the Northeast's two greatest tap hoofers, Jay Dash and LaVaughn Robinson. She has also taken classes with Savion Glover while attending the University of the Arts and has gotten the opportunity to take tap classes with Maude Arnold here in Florida.
Miss Shauna was in a near fatal accident, which left her unable to dance. After 12 years, she felt the dance bug calling her back and she made every effort to get herself back onto the dance floor and teaching dance again. For the last 6 years, Miss Shauna has been teaching Tap, Jazz and Acrobatics, Choreographing for local theater companies, started her own Musical Theater Troupe and taught middle school Musical theater as an elective. She also got back into the competition circuit of dance where she has won numerous awards and accolades for her choreography, costuming, theming and commitment to characters.
Miss Shauna believes that anyone can learn to dance and express themselves. While she loves teaching Jazz, Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Contemporary, her passion is for Tap! She believes in having a strong work ethic, goals and a passion for the art of dance.
