Miss Shauna was born and raised in Southern New Jersey, where her dance journey began at just 2 years old. She grew up training in her family-owned dance studio just outside of Philadelphia, surrounded by a vibrant community of educators and performers. Her mother’s membership in Dance Masters Chapter 25 provided her with invaluable early exposure to professional training and dance education opportunities.
Throughout her youth, Miss Shauna trained under a variety of accomplished teachers and choreographers across New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York City. She spent several years performing with the South Jersey Children's Ballet Theater under the direction of Phyllis Papa. At a young age, she also completed the rigorous Jay Dash Dance Teachers Training Program—studying technique, terminology, choreography, and passing both written and physical exams in all major dance genres.
A proud graduate of the University of the Arts, Miss Shauna was a member of the prestigious Senior Tap Ensemble under the legendary LaVaughn Robinson. She has continued her professional development by completing Karida Griffith’s Tap Teacher Training and earning her certification with Acrobatic Arts International.
Miss Shauna began teaching at the age of 15 and launched her first tap competition team at 19. By 21, she had built competitive jazz and tap companies that performed and won awards throughout the East Coast. Her tap roots run deep, having trained with two of the Northeast’s most respected hoofers—Jay Dash and LaVaughn Robinson. She’s also taken master classes with Savion Glover and Maud Arnold.
After surviving a near-fatal accident that left her unable to dance for over a decade, Miss Shauna found her way back to the studio. Her return to dance was driven by pure passion and resilience. Over the past six years, she has choreographed for local theater productions, created a musical theater troupe, taught middle school electives, and returned to the competition circuit—earning recognition for her choreography, costuming, theming, and creative storytelling.
Miss Shauna believes that anyone can learn to dance and find their voice through movement. While she loves teaching jazz, acrobatics, hip hop, and contemporary, tap will always be her true passion. She instills in her students the value of hard work, clear goals, and a genuine love for the art of dance.
